British Gas provides information to customers about changes in energy bills | Personal Finance | Finance

Last week Chancellor Jeremy Hunt confirmed that the energy price guarantee would be extended beyond April. Energy bills. However, Mr Hunt added that this would increase from £2,500 to £3,000 a year from April next year. The rise means households will not pay the £3,739 predicted by energy analysts at Cornwall Insight.

The energy agency noted that it is not yet clear how the new price guarantee will affect customers.

However, British Gas said it will contact customers once it knows what the changes are for individual households.

It also reiterated that the current energy price guarantee will remain in effect till March 31, 2023.

It assured customers that they would still receive their monthly government rebates as scheduled.

Households are now receiving bills of around £65 each month following government intervention to help with rising energy bill costs.

In his statement, the Chancellor also announced that additional financial assistance would be provided to those most vulnerable to price hikes.

Under its message, British Gas provided a link to simple energy saving tips that all households can implement.

British Gas advised customers to move furniture away from radiators and close curtains at night to keep the heat in the house.

Other simple tips include turning off lights, keeping the oven door closed when in use, washing clothes at low temperatures, and using the microwave more often.

British Gas also has a list of energy saving investments that can help reduce energy consumption.

It said: “If you have a little money to spend, you can save even more energy and make a big difference to your energy bills.”

These include smart thermostats, radiator reflector panels, ‘eco-balls’ for tumble dryers and thermostatic radiator valves.
