‘Have fun, we need you’: Bars, clubs and restaurants attract customers | City & Business | Finance

As predicted, hospitality businesses and their employees are really struggling from all the challenges and disruptions of the third year. Like many wonderful graces (https://amazinggraceldn.com/), a beautiful live music bar and dance space in London Bridge’s scenic Borough Quarter, says it has been hit hard. Due to the cancellation of the train strike, there has been a loss.

With great sounds, Grace is perfectly placed to rock the day for both locals and travelers alike. Christmas is a big time for K&G Hospitality, a venue business set up in 2020 by founders Vineet Kalra and Ricardo Guimaraes to celebrate their passion for food, drink and the city of London.

“Amazing Grace has lost two private hire bookings worth £50,000 and is very quiet on strike days,” says Sammie Ellard-King, director of marketing.

“The bookings were for key business Christmas parties, so not only have we lost our revenue, but customers have lost the opportunity to go out when they were looking to let off some steam at the end of a busy year.

“We’ve had to close the site as we don’t have enough bookings for the number of staff we now need. 12 of our staff have lost valuable income in the run-up to Christmas. We respect people on strike and the timing of it could not have been worse for us.

“But the hope is that customers old and new will be able to drive around and visit us as much as they can.”

Responding to the announcement of further rail strikes affecting the Christmas weekend, Kate Nicholls, chief executive of leading trade body UKHospitality, said: “These strikes have already cost £1.5 billion in lost sales, which is incredibly disappointing. A solution to avoid this disruption in a golden month of trade for our sector has yet to be reached. .

“We continue to urge all parties involved in the negotiations to immediately reach a solution to avoid these harmful strikes.”
