October bridging payments of £130 per child started at the end of September and all must be made by Monday 17 October.

The Scottish Government says payments are based on information from people who receive free school meals, so eligible families must apply for meals through their local council if they are not automatically provided.

It states that all families receiving free school meals before 1 July 2022 will need to renew their entitlement, update their details and complete a new application for free school meals.

Applications for free school meals must be submitted by October 14, 2022 to be eligible for the October bridging payment, the government website says.
