Manchester United bounced back from a shock start to beat Omonia in Thursday’s Europa League clash in Cyprus. Karim Ansarifard gave the hosts a shock lead in the first half – but goals from Marcus Rashford (x2) and Anthony Martial gave the visitors all three points. It was indeed a poor performance from Erik den Haag’s side, however, Express Sport will now look at four players who can count themselves lucky after the defeat.
After the England international’s 2-1 win over Liverpool at the end of August, Jadon Sancho began to turn a corner.
He was also on target shortly after as the Red Devils beat Leicester.
However, in recent weeks, Sancho has begun to retreat again.
The United star was virtually anonymous amid the heat of the battle in Cyprus, with the former Borussia Dortmund star easily canceled out by Adam Matthews before being withdrawn at the break.
United spent £73million on Sancho a year ago and 12 months on, they are still waiting for a bang for their buck.
Man Utd Transfers: Two players over-signed and stopped the club
Bruno Fernandes has been out for a while now.
The Portugal international was another anonymous performer as United suffered one of the most humiliating defeats in their entire history.
In the absence of Harry Maguire these days, Fernandez has been wearing the armband with the England star sidelined by injury.
Even if his assist for Rashford’s first goal was impressive, there are real concerns about whether he is good enough to skip the team on a weekly basis, just like his team-mate.
Fernandez is on fire for United, which gives Den Haag another problem to solve.

United fans had to wait to see Casemiro in action.
The Brazil international has started just once since joining Real Madrid in the summer, with Scott McTominay often chosen instead.
But Casemiro made valuable little notes throughout the clash in Cyprus.
Obviously, it will take time for the 30-year-old to earn Den Haag’s trust and earn his place in the United team.
But while the Samba star is yet to settle into his new environment, early indications are that he will prefer failure to success.
Man Utd’s next five matches
Manchester United fans won’t have to wait long to see their team back in action.
They lock horns with Everton on Sunday, with the reverse fixture against tonight’s opponents Omonia next Thursday.
On October 16 and October 19, the Red Devils face Newcastle and Tottenham respectively.
Also, on October 22, they will battle Chelsea.
United will need to be better than tonight, however, to boost their chances of finishing in the top four and having a successful season.
