Samsung laid out a plan on Tuesday Increase production of advanced semiconductorsIt aims to mass produce 1.4-nanometer (nm) chips by 2027. The technology giant is working to meet the demand for cutting-edge chips for high-performance computing, AI, 5G, 6G and automotive applications.

Earlier this year, Samsung launched Mass-produce chips using its 3-nanometer (nm) process tip, its most advanced technology for contract chip manufacturing. It plans to introduce a 2nm process in 2025.

Moreover, the company plans to expand its production capacity for advanced nodes more than 3X by 2027 compared to this year. By 2027, Samsung expects non-mobile applications — HPC, automotive and 5G applications — to account for more than half of its foundry portfolio.

Samsung plans to expand its Gate-All-Around (GAA)-based 3nm process support for HPC and mobile chips. The company also plans to diversify into a specialized 4nm process for HPC and automotive applications.

In August, Samsung said it would spend 20 trillion won by 2028, about $15 billion. Build a new advanced chip research campus In South Korea. Global chip shortages have been a boon for Samsung’s chip division over the past two years as customers stockpile inventory. The company’s chip division calculated Two-thirds of its operating profit in the second quarter of this year.
