“We will have a stronger trading relationship and reduce red tape for British business – but freedom of movement is a red line for me.
“It’s part of the deal to stay in the EU, but I’ve been very clear since we left that it won’t come under my government again.”
Chairman Jeremy Hunt is said to be considering negotiating a closer relationship with the group.
Appearing before the Treasury Select Committee last week, he said: “We do not support, we do not contemplate, I do not support, I have never contemplated, this means walking away from the TCA. [Brexit deal]That means we’re not negotiating or deciding terms we want as sovereign equals, paying unnecessary money to the EU, or really compromising on freedom of movement.”
