Nicola Sturgeon Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling mentions that she is not a ‘true feminist’ as | Political | news

Nicola Sturgeon has claimed that JK Rowling is not a “real feminist”. The Harry Potter author branded the First Minister a “destroyer of women’s rights”.

The couple was embroiled in trans issues.

Rowling was particularly concerned by the Scottish Government’s legislation to make it quicker and easier for individuals under the age of 16 to legally change their gender without parental permission or a court order.

The Telegraph earlier this year described Sturgeon’s Scotland as “one of the easiest places on earth for teenagers to change sex”.

Rowling shared a photo online yesterday of her wearing a T-shirt that described Nicola Sturgeon as a “destroyer of women’s rights”.

He also offered his “solidarity” to those protesting outside the Scottish Parliament against trans measures.

Sturgeon responded that Rowling’s feminist credentials were worn thin.

The First Minister said: “There are many real threats to women now, attacks – from physical assaults, sexual violence attacks to abortion and the removal of reproductive rights – that women go through in countries like Iran.

“There is no shortage of attacks on women, and feminists, real feminists, as I consider myself, need to pay attention now.”

“At heart, Sturgeon is one of those mean girls.”

Rowling liked the tweet, indicating her agreement.

The term “Mean Girls” gained popularity following the release of the 2004 film of the same name.

Bullying, backstabbing and vengeful are the characteristics of the “Mean Woman”, as depicted in the film.

Caroline Fiske of the Conservative Party for Women, quoted in the Mail, responded to the First Minister’s comments: “J.K. Nicola Sturgeon’s comments about Rowling not being a ‘real feminist’ are ridiculous.

“JK Rowling has been a hero and inspiration to tens of thousands of women across the United Kingdom who are deeply concerned about the impact of gender ideology.”
